VLJ is always in need of your support to keep taking cases and changing lives---cases like Margaret and her son Joshua's.
When Joshua was 16-years-old, he had already been retained once and his school district was seeking to hold him back again due to excessive absences.
However, Joshua was suffering from major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and social phobia, which was primarily the result of bullying in school that was not appropriately addressed. His mother, Margaret, did her best to advocate for her son, but she felt overpowered by the district.
After numerous failed attempts to address her son's problems in school, Margaret turned to VLJ for help. Her VLJ volunteer attorneys spent over 100 hours on the matter and ultimately got Joshua moved into a different school.
Today, Joshua is coming home from school smiling and is getting straight A's.
