April 2019 Volunteer of the Month: Alexandra Litvin

Volunteer Lawyers for Justice is honored to announce Alexandra Litvin as the April Volunteer of the Month. Alexandra has been a dedicated volunteer with VLJ since 2007, while still at Seton Hall Law School.

As a legal intern at VLJ, Alexandra witnessed first-hand the role a volunteer attorney can play in changing the trajectory of a person’s life. “It was a very rewarding experience and it opened my eyes to the need for pro bono work.” Alexandra opened her own successful firm, the Law Office of Alexandra Wolfe Litvin, LLC, where she represents clients in business and corporate matters, as well as construction litigation, real estate, and consumer issues.

Alexandra’s commitment to pro bono work has remained steady. She’s been volunteering regularly at VLJ’s Divorce Clinics for the past eight years, where she helps pro se litigants navigate the profoundly stressful, emotional, and life-changing process of divorce. Alexandra reflects, “I think it is an amazing program that helps a lot of people, and the structure allows attorneys to serve people who otherwise would not have access to counsel.”

Alexandra recalls helping a Spanish-speaking client understand the complex service abroad requirements and seeing the client’s anxiety immediately subside. “I find it personally rewarding to help people move on, navigate a process that is confusing, and I am thrilled to give back and support the community.” VLJ staff attorney Stella Lyubarsky who oversees the Divorce Program shares, “I often place the most difficult cases with Alexandra because I’ve witnessed numerous times how her kind demeanor immediately puts clients at ease, and her ability to patiently explain the most complicated concepts in easily understandable terms allows clients to feel confident about their case.” We are so pleased to recognize Alexandra for her years of devotion to pro bono work and serving clients in need.
